Some love stories begin with a first date, a chance introduction, or a conversation that unexpectedly turns into something more. Kirsty Southern and Ryan McLeod met under very different circumstances.

Ryan and Kirsty stayed together for several years, and eventually Ryan proposed.
On October 11, 2025, roughly five years after the accident, they got married surrounded by family and friends.
But there was one more place they wanted to include in their wedding day.
The pedestrian crossing where Ryan had been hit.
They returned to the spot where, years earlier, Kirsty had sat beside a man she did not know and helped support him until emergency services arrived.
This time, they were there for wedding photographs.
The location had not been chosen because it was beautiful or romantic. Its meaning came from what had happened there.
It was the place connected to one of the most frightening days of Ryan’s life, but also the place where two people who might otherwise never have met first crossed paths.

Those details matter when trying to tell the story accurately, but they do not change what makes it remarkable.
Not Every Beginning Looks Like One
On the day of the accident, Ryan did not know the woman supporting him.
Kirsty had no way of knowing that the injured stranger in front of her would one day become her husband.
